Chapter 3

Ramona’s half-brother Michael had came to the party. Vanessa was glad to see him too.

Rajan showed his parenthood skills taking care of Ramona when everyone else were busy.

Ville and Paulette teached the two toddlers to talk, walk and how to use potty. Some of the guests didn’t realize when was the right time to leave.

When Paulette’s maternity leave was over, Vanessa had to take care of the girls. The house was messed up while Vanessa had to concentrate on keeping the kids safe. She even taught Ramona some new words.

After work Ville and Paulette spent some quality time together. They knew they wanted more babies at some point, but now wasn’t the right time when Paulette had just started at work again, so they used protection.

Soon the familiar pain struck Vanessa when she went into labour. Luckily Paulette was at home so she promised to look after Ramona, as if she wouldn’t do it no matter what.

Because of being some kind of mermaid, Vanessa refused to use any boats to get to the hospital. So she swam.

“That child have really strong hands!” she marveled when she saw a woman with toddler, the kid just hanging on his mother’s shoulder.

No time for that now, she realized she couldn’t make it to the hospital this time either. She was just too stubborn to use a boat which would have probably helped her to get there. So she turn back home.

So once again she gave birth at the backyard of their house. Baby was the cutest boy in the world and she named him Reita.

She made a cozy place for the baby in Marissa’s old room upstairs. Their house was really getting small for three adults, two toddlers, a baby and a dog.

At the morning Paulette went to see the newcomer of the family. Wistful feelings ran throught her body, when she held the baby. She was now sure, that she didn’t want to wait too long for another child. She would talk with Ville about this.

While Paulette was adoring the baby, Vanessa told Ville how annoying kids are.

Suski had settled down a little bit, she didn’t growl so much anymore to people. Still when Ville tried to pet her, she suddenly bit him. Well, maybe it was best to leave her alone.

Now when their kid was born, was time to have a serious talk at last about what was going on between Vanessa and Rajan. “I left Lupita as soon I heard I have a son”, Rajan told her. “I want to be with you and Reita.”

That was what Vanessa wanted too. At first she had somehow started an affair with a married man because of her loneliness, next she fell for a guy nextdoor who had a girlfriend and she didn’t was proud of anything she had done, it even made her feel more worthless. People were talking about her and her illegitimate children, and people were cruel. But maybe she had deserved some happiness in her life? She kissed him.

“This may come little too early…”, she started. “But now when we are both singles and we have a child together, and we clearly love each other…”

“…I’m asking you now, will you marry me?”

Rajan admired the ring. Of course he will marry her!

They both felt the warm in their hearts as they hugged. It was time to plan the wedding!

When Paulette heard about their engagement she wanted to throw a bachelor party to Vanessa. She invited every woman they know, even Devin’s wife Persephone came because she was Paulette’s co-worker. It did seem she didn’t hold any grudge against Vanessa. Maybe this wasn’t the first time he had cheated her.

Night was warm and everybody danced along the pop music at the beach. Even Marissa, who was over hundred years old, partied like she was young girl again.

For Vanessa’s surprise Paulette had called two male strippers to make a perform. That’s why the party was for girls only!

“Open your mouth!” commanded her friend as she pour a full bottle of champagne to Vanessa’s face.

While girls where partying, Ville took care of kids at home. He had put on his formal clothes, because he had thought he was also welcomed to the party, and later he didn’t bother to take it off.

Finally the girls came home, Paulette really had have the time of her life as she passed out as soon as she walked in.

Next morning Vanessa immediately started to arrange the wedding. They decided to have a wedding at home.

First guests came in, but some of them didn’t know the right dress code which made them become target of laughts.

Vanessa thought it was now time to make things clear with Devin, so she pulled him to side and told him that she hoped them to remain as friends.

“Whaat?” he got angry. “What are you talking about, you stupid woman. No one leave me! And do you think that you meant nothing to me? I just used you for my sexual desires, like many girls before you.”

“So I was right when I thought I’m not the only one of your ‘secret lovers’”, she said. “I wonder what Persephone sees in you.” Now she really felt bad for Persephone, she hoped she could make it up for her someday.

“I’ll get my revenge, you’ll see.” he murmured as he turned around and walked to the door.

But Vanessa couln’t see when he open the door that he was sad.

He ran away without any words even to his wife, who was listening Paulette’s guitar playing. Is he going to revenge or was it just an empty threat? No one could tell.
When was the time to get married, Vanessa realized she couldn’t find Rajan anywhere. This was a catastrophe! Luckily they got a buffet table so people, those who hadn’t already left, can get something to eat.

The man Vanessa once saved from drowning had came to the wedding, but he probably had forgot the danger he was in, because he just kept acted up to Vanessa.

And finally he left too.

Strange things begun to happen as Michael’s face turned green and he turned to zombie!

Another zombie rised from the ground.

“I… have to… go… Thanks… for… the… party!” Michael stated as he walked away uneasy.

Rasta hair zombie tried to scare Paulette, but she thought it was cute.

Eventually full moon rised and zombie gave it another shot. This time Paulette didn’t think it was cute anymore.

“Please don’t hurt me!” she yelled eyes wide open.

Then Marissa came to them and because most of the people were scared of her, zombie stop what he was doing.

Happy news to the last wedding guests, when Rajan finally showed up. With his sport clothes, but maybe it was okay.

The couple went under the wedding arch and the last guests which were Paulette and Ville, who would rather stand than sit, zombie and the man who already left but apparently came back.

Event was so emotional that even the zombie cried.

Now even Paulette and Ville didn’t bother to attend the wedding anymore, so Vanessa and Rajan said vows in front of two last witnesses. But most important for them was, that they had one another now from this day forward.

Only slicing the wedding cake and hole busy and stressful, but still delightful and memorable, day was over.

Kids had made a huge mess on terrace with their toys and something, probably piss, but they’ll take care of that tomorrow. Now was the first night for married couple as husband and wife and they wouldn’t let small things ruin it.
